History Of Surreal Photography

Surrealism in photography was one of the major revolutionary changes in the evolution of photography. Rather than art, photography was reviewed as a copying effort. Surrealism is the introduction of the ‘more than real’ images to the art forms.

Surrealism was a movement in the art and intellectual activities, emerged after World War I. Andre Breton, was the founder of the surrealistic concepts and he has gathered the influence from the Dande movement. Surrealism is actually the real expression of mental emotions, without any polishing. Andre Breton describes surrealism in Surrealist Manifesto, as the pure psychic automatism expressed in the real functionality of a person. Surrealistic art forms characteristically differ from the conventional forms in not having specific shape or idea. It can be the expression of basic human instinct and imaginative faculties of the unconscious mind. But, when surrealism comes to photography, the critics did not even imagine such a possibility. However, “Marquise Casati” by Man Ray, made a change to the belief, as it featured multiple eyes for the photograph. Even though, it was an accidental blurring, it proved the chances for the feasibility of surrealistic works.

Man Ray and Lee Miller are considered as legends in surrealistic photography as they were very successful to overcome the limitations of photography to create surrealistic images. Maurice Tabard is another famous surrealist, who had his own technique for surrealistic imaging. Hans Bellmer creatively used mechanical dolls to symbolize sexualized images, where as for Rene Magritte camera was the tool to make photographic equivalents of his paintings.

Surrealist photographs are described as the images, which symbolically represent dreams, night mares, intoxication, sexual ecstasy, hallucination and madness. The difficulty with photography medium is that it imbibes the reality, and often the real images cannot be sufficient to express such unconventional patterns. But, the famous surrealist photographers are able to fulfill the task since they can use the photographic techniques effectively. The ordinary snapshots, body photographs, anthropological photographs, medical photographs, movie stills, and even police photographs are manipulated to create the impression of surrealist images in the photographs.

Surrealism in photography is mainly performed using the different techniques. The differential techniques of light and lenses can itself be the primary technique for surrealism. Photomontage is one of the popular processing techniques, in which the several images are coupled together. In photogram, a photographic paper can be used instead of camera to imprint the image. The images produced by the flush of light can create amazing images that has a surrealistic look.

Multiple exposure is another technique for surrealism, in which the camera is clicked twice or more, without rolling the negative. The second image will be superimposed on the first image and the final product will be an undefined mixture of both. Cliche verre or glass negative is the surrealistic technique that uses negative coated from glass plate. Anyhow, solarization or Sabattier effect seems to be the most remarkable technique for surrealism. It produces dramatic effect of patterns through the flushing of the light on the photograph, while developing in the darkroom. It was discovered by Lee Miller, which have selective reversal of highlights and shadows. The light and dark areas with the distinct line of reversal make it most appropriate for surrealism.

Surrealism in photography has progressed much from its primitive stages. The new technology and lenses offer immense opportunity to the new generation photographers to portray their mental emotions in the frame of cameras.

How To Run A Tennis Camp

In this post today, I will show you how to run a great tennis camp and have the kids coming back again and again for more, which should be your main objective for having the camp in the first place.

This could be summer or all season camp for juniors.

Try to keep improving on what is working for you by tweaking it at times and testing out new ideas, to make the camp even better.

Here are some key elements, that you and your staff should think about and focus on.

Greet the kids with energy and passion and tell them what you guys expect from them, during the camp, I would just ask for everyone to have fun, keep a great attitude and give 100% mental effort at all times, and that should be enough.

Be short and upbeat with your message!

Dynamic Warm-ups

Don’t talk too much during the greeting.

Start them with some creative warm-ups drills and get them moving and their blood pumping.

Never use static warm-ups drills either, they tend to do that here in Japan and I feel it causes a lot of injuries, because players don’t get their blood pumping correctly, before they start drilling them hard.

They should start off slow and work their way into these warm-ups.

Drills, Drills, Drills

After you have them warmed up, get into your drills.

If you have many courts, break the groups into 3 or 4 depending on the size of your camp.

Then use the most effective drills that you can find or create, to be able to get the most out of the camp for them.

I can tell you, your campers should be hitting 1000s and 1000s of tennis balls during your drill time.

Focus on them getting the reps in and adjusting their swing.

And getting a feel for each drill that you guys introduce.

Serve up some pasta or sub- sandwiches for the kids, but not too much.

Also, make campers eat with people they don’t know, so they can make some new friends at every camp.

The coaches should also eat with the campers and get to know them better.

Communication is the goal during lunch time, so keep the conversations going for everyone.

Match play

After lunch, have a round-robin and have everyone play in it.

Kids want to play matches, so you have to give them what they want at each camp.

But, also give every student a notebook when they arrive for the camp and make sure they record how they played after every match.

Coaches, should also talk to them privately and give them advice for match play and strategies for the future and also have the students give a short summary of their matches to the coaching staff.

That’s a basic outline for having a great camp, but there are also some other things that you need to do and they are important.

Plan your budget.

Crunch the numbers and make sure that they will work for you.

Ask for donations from local retailers and then mention them in your flyers for the camp.

Raise as much money as you can locally(They will love to help you too).

Other important items.

Medical Release forms/Insurance Waivers.

I would make them sign one, because you have to cover yourself and the company that you represent.

Then make sure that you give safe camp!

Off Court Activities.

Go hiking and swimming if you can with them and also take them to a movie or bring one to the camp.

In summary, have a great time with the kids.

Good luck with your camp too!

Keeping Pets

Of all the animals on this earth, only human beings keep other animals as pets. None of the other animals keep pets. It sounds a bit strange but it is a fact.

Human beings keep many different types of pets, the most common ones being dogs and cats. Other pets include birds, guinea pigs, white mice, and rabbits. Then there are some really weird pets that people keep such as snakes and spiders.

Many house owners keep dogs to guard their houses as well as for company. I suspect the former is a more important criterion for keeping dogs. Dogs, being naturally inquisitive creatures, bark when they see something new or strange. They are natural early-warning devices. However, most dogs are friendly once they know that someone is not a threat. So it is common to see children and adults playing with their dogs. Their joy is obvious.

However dogs do need care. Regular meals, bath and grooming are essential so that they remain healthy. Otherwise, they tend to become mangy and surly. We can see this in the stray dogs that we come across sometimes.

Cats are natural predators. So they do keep the house they live in free of rats. However cats are not friendly as dogs. They usually keep themselves except when they want some attention.

My neighbor keeps pigeons. These birds are free to fly around as the please. They only return to their pigeon holes to eat and to spend the night. It seems easy keeping pigeons, but my neighbor says it is not so. Pigeons eat a lot. So he has to spend a considerable sum of money buying seeds and peas for them to eat. There is another big problem with keeping pigeons and that is they leave their droppings all over the place. This is definitely a health hazard. I have mentioned this to my neighbor but he does not seem to care.

Another neighbor of mine keeps song-birds. He has a couple of magpie-robins and about half a dozen of spotted doves. These birds can really sing. Every morning, their sweet singing wake me up. This is really a pleasure. I am sure my neighbor keeps these birds for the pleasure of their songs too. But like pigeons, they eat a lot and so this neighbor has to spend a large sum of money keeping them. These birds are not cheap either. They can cost hundreds of dollars each. Nevertheless, my neighbor is very proud of his birds. It gives him pleasure and that, I suppose, is the main purpose of keeping pets.

I have seen people keeping guinea pigs, hamsters, fishes and rabbits as pets but these are not so common. Each animal has its special needs and not everyone knows how to look after them properly. I have not met anyone keeping snakes and tarantulas or other weird animals, but I have heard of them and seen them on the television. I wonder what pleasure they derive from these strange and dangerous pets. I wonder too how they look after them.

Anyhow I suppose each person has his or her won reasons for keeping pets, and as long as they look after their pets properly, it is all right.

Is Living In Romania A Challenge?

Most of the people consider that living in Romania is difficult, because this is a country, whose people suffered a lot, especially during the communism, and now they try hard to catch up with the other developed countries of the world. However, nowadays living in Romania seems to be easier than in the past.

A typical day in the life of Romanians is closely related to work activities. In general, they are very busy and they only wake up under the shower, in the morning… They usually start their workday at 7 a.m. and finish it at 3 p.m.

Family is very important for them, though and there still are traditional families in which meal times can be respected, especially in the case of families, which set up home businesses.

Romanian economy is developing because of economic reforms. The main industries in Romania are textile and footwear one, metallurgic industry; light machines industry and machines parts assembling. Furthermore, in Romania there are mines and wood engineering factories. They also produce construction materials, chemical products, food and they refine oil. Other developing sectors in Romania are medicine industry, heavy machines one and home appliances industry. Nowadays, cars industry is developing too, as well as IT industry.

We have told you about industry in order to let you know what living in Romania means nowadays. Thus, Romania has become a quite industrial country, agriculture suffering now from lack of work force especially.

On the other hand, people here are friendly, they like spending time with their work mates over a pint of beer, a glass of wine or a cup of coffee and a chat in the case of women.

Most of the Romanians are hospitable and flexible, and they consider that living in Romania has improved a lot in the last 17 years. As far as their work is concerned, they usually have their rhythm, which seems quite slow to people like French, for example.

To continue, the nice aspect related to living in Romania is that Romanians do not obey to strict rules, like Germans, they do not always know what the next step is in their activity. Romanians are ambitious and yet some of them are not quite so disciplined.

In Romania, people enjoy free time at the weekend and during public holidays. However, free time is shorter nowadays because people feel more tired, they are busier and lonelier. Actually, this is the definition of living in Romania and in Europe or anywhere in the world at the beginning of the 21st century.

Romanians tend to find the balance between career and family, to manage stress and to improve their work every day. Most of them believe that happiness is not a result, but a way of living. They are happy when they wake up and they are healthy and thank God for it. After all, living in Romania can be a spiritual challenge because those who cannot face living there usually look for their happiness abroad…

Prostate Self

At the outset we should pose the question, “why is the prostate self-exam needed?” Most men are reluctant to see doctors. We know the digital rectal exam (DRE) may be deterring some men from seeking preventive health checkups. The evidence, which is rather conclusive on this point, is that whenever a hospital or clinic offers free prostate cancer screenings that include both the prostate-specific antigen (PSA) blood test and the DRE, the participation rates from members of the surrounding communities is always much lower than if the PSA blood test is offered alone. Then many more men will participate if the PSA alone is offered.

Instead of badgering these men to “man up” and endure a test they find humiliating, we can offer them an alternative. While some are skeptical of the value of the prostate self-exam, the fact remains these skeptics do not have any other alternative to suggest aside from badgering the men to get prostate exams from their doctors.

The prostate self-exam will have greater value and efficacy when men are educated on how to perform these self-exams. Men have to learn how to do prostate exams by watching videos, available on the Internet, in which physicians demonstrate the technique. They also need to view scores of diagrams of the prostate so they will know what to expect when they perform the self-exam.

We already encourage all men, but especially those between the ages of 15 – 35, to perform monthly testicular self-exam. If men can examine their own testicles, then chances are they are mature and capable enough to check their prostates once they learn how and get some experience examining their own prostates.

Men sometimes think a doctor inserts a finger and then directly touches their prostates. That perception is not correct. The finger (or digit) is inserted through the rectum, but the finger is located then within the bowel, which is separate and distinct from the prostate gland. Essentially the doctor, or the patient in the case of the self-exam, is pressing the wall of the bowel down so that he can feel the posterior surface of the prostate gland beneath the wall of the bowel. However, the wall of the bowel effectively buffers the prostate, so any node or suspicious area must be large enough that it can be felt through this buffer. Ideally, the examiner would like to be able to touch the surface of the prostate directly, but he has to do a close substitute of feeling it through the wall of the bowel.

Issues to Remember

A normal prostate is the size of a walnut. Prostates can enlarge to the size of a lemon. Possible causes for enlarged prostate include Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia, or hormonal imbalance (too much estradiol or dihydrotestosterone), or prostatitis. As men age they enter a period that we call Andropause; it is analogous to menopause in women. During Andropause, which normally lasts through the end of the man’s life, the body produces too little testosterone, which results in an imbalance between testosterone and estrogen.

Estrogen levels in men are measured through the serum estradiol level. Both estradiol and dihydrotestosterone, the powerful form of testosterone, can irritate and cause the enlargement of the prostate. Elevated estradiol levels have been shown in clinical studies to cause prostate cancer; whereas dihydrotestosterone is known to accelerate the growth of prostate cancer but does not appear to cause cancer itself. A third explanation for why a prostate might be enlarged is if the patient has prostatitis.

The prostate feels similar to the pulp of an orange sliced in half. If you feel anything hard like the seed of an orange against the softer pulp, that would be a suspicious area for prostate cancer.

Important Points to Remember

For the prostate self-exam, the finger must be inserted into rectum with palm of the hand down and fingernail on the index finger on top. It will feel much more natural, especially the first time you try this, to insert finger with palm up and nail down. If you were to clean yourself with a bar of soap, you would naturally hold the soap with the palm of the hand facing up and the fingernails pointing down. But you will need to learn to pivot your hand and cause the palm of the hand to face downward and the finger nail up, so that you can feel the prostate using the pad on your finger and not the fingernail. It will feel awkward at least the first five times you attempt to insert your finger in the correct position.

The prostate is not shaped round like a walnut, but instead presents more as the top portion of a heart-shaped object. Most men will find they have a left lobe, a median lobe over which the ureathra passes and effectively bisects the prostate, and a right lobe. With a little bit of practice, you will be able to know which lobe you are touching and any minor differences between the lobes.

When you perform the prostate self-exam at home, you will need to tilt forward so that the prostate will jut outward and can be felt more easily. If you stand up straight, your prostate will point down (in the direction of your legs) and it will be more difficult to feel with the digital rectal exam.

Give yourself a more thorough prostate exam than you are likely to obtain from a family practitioner. Go over every available surface of the prostate at least three times and using different circular motions each time. In the privacy of your own home, take at least one full minute and preferably two minutes to examine your prostate. Your goal is to be able to detect any cancer node (hard surface) the size of a grain of rice. You won’t be able to feel a suspicious node to that degree of detail with a quick wave of the finger one time over the prostate.

So when you visit the family doctor’s office, and the doctor inserts a finger and moves it quickly over the prostate, with the whole check taking three or four seconds, that is not a detail prostate check. Something that cursory could not detect cancer the size of a grain of rice. And that is your goal; your goal is always early detection while any prostate cancer is still small.

Do not attempt prostate self-exams if you are unwilling to take the time to learn how to check the prostate by reviewing clinical practice guidelines available on the Internet. Your health is at risk; trust yourself only if you possess the intellectual capacity to distinguish between normal and abnormal surfaces on soft tissue such as the prostate. If you do not feel you are going to be able to distinguish between normal and abnormal surfaces, then you should not attempt to do this check on yourself.

Benefits of Prostate Self-Exam

The patient is able to check the prostate more regularly than just once per year (earlier detection leads to earlier diagnosis and earlier treatment). You can check your prostate quarterly or whatever frequency you prefer given the state of your prostate, but you do not have to limit yourself to an annual check.

Second, men who educate themselves to learn how to do prostate self-exams can avoid the awkwardness and embarrassment men frequently associate with the digital rectal exam. Third, men can visit the doctor more regularly without concern that they will be asked to submit to a DRE or prostate check on each visit.

News Writing

News writing style is just as important for sports reporting as it is for general news, business stories or any other journalistic work.

The advantage of sports writing is that you are allowed a little it more leeway in your choice of words. In crime or business writing, you are restricted in your use of adjectives and adverbs and are encouraged to focus more on nouns and verbs.

Sports writing, however, allows you to go to town in describing plays, the atmosphere, fans and other colorful aspects of a sporting event.

For this article, we will go through, step by step, how to write a straightforward sports report using quotes.

Ideally, any sports story would have quotes from the winners and losers. Indeed, many sports articles are written around what athletes say rather than what they have achieved on the field of play.

However, you also have sports articles written without quotes. When rookies learn how to write like a journalist, especially in sport, they are likely to come across the structure that we will show you here.

We will adapt the NBA game between Boston Celtics and Cleveland Cavaliers on April 1 as our example article.

1. Intro – the most important news aspect of a sports game is the score. Who won? How did they win and what effect did the victory have? Also important is whether we are writing from a Boston perspective or Cleveland. In this case, we will go with Cleveland.

“Cleveland Cavaliers lost 98-96 to the Boston Celtics after Delonte West’s sank two free throws in the final seconds, dropping three and a half games behind the Pistons for the best record in the Eastern Conference.”

2. More info – The above is enough for those who have a passing interest in the sport. However, NBA fans would want more information and you could give it to them in one or two paragraphs.

“The Cavaliers were without star player LeBron James, suffering from a knee injury, while the Celtics were minus Paul Pierce. Gerald Green led the way for Celtics with 25 points while Kendrick Perkins had 12 points and nine rebounds.

The Cavaliers, for whom Larry Hughes scored 24 with Sasha Pavlovic scoring 17, have already qualified for the play-offs while Boston are out of the running.”

3. Quote – This is where you can provide a quote from the coach or a key player from both teams. You can precede each saying with a lead-in paragraph or go straight into the quote.

“Celtic forward Al Jefferson, said: ‘They were missing their best player and we were missing our best play. We just stuck in there.’

Cavs coach Mike Brown said James’ absence was a key factor in their loss.

‘We miss LeBron. We miss LeBron every time he doesn’t play. He’s our guy,’ said Brown.”

4. The rest – Once you got the main information and key quotes out of the way, you can go on to describe the game. Even better would be to describe just one or two plays and include more quotes.

The thinking behind sports articles is that people would have watched the game on TV anyway and would not want boring game description. Therefore, quotes from the people who matter, such as athletes and coaches, would offer better reading value.

There are many types of sports news writing that is offered around the world everyday. We have merely showed you its simplest form. Certainly, it is a rewarding form of news writing for journalists who love their sport. And the structure they use allow them to adapt their skills to any type of journalism writing.

Planking The Deck Of A Model Ship

The first stage to planking the deck is to fit the false deck to the frame. The false deck is usually made from 1mm plywood and will need to be slightly adjusted for the various bulkhead notches if supplied with your kit. Mark the centre line on the deck from bow to stern ensuring that it is lined up squarely with the false keel and that the bulkheads fit through the notches on the false deck. This fit should be neither snug nor loose. The false deck will allow the deck planking to fit easier and lie flatter and more evenly.

The false deck is cambered from the midline to both the starboard and port sides. The amount of camber is usually shown on the waterline drawing that comes with the kit the dimensions of which should be marked by the builder on the bulkheads as a guide. If the plans do not indicate the camber, the general rule is ¼” rise to every foot. Thus in our 1:48 example from the last article where the breadth (beam) is 56 feet, the rise would be 13/32″ or 10mm from the centre line to the edge of either the port side or starboard side. Make sure that the sheer plan (length) matches the body plan (depth) and remember that deck curvatures do not always follow the same curvature of the hull sheer exactly. This is because the stern of the ship sits lower in the water than the bow. The level mid point between the stern and the bow is about ¾ of the length of the ship between the stern and the bow. If the plans do not match make adjustments or else fittings like cannons will not sit properly on the deck (cannons should be pointing slightly down). You should also measure the distance from the waterline to the top of the false deck to ensure accuracy with the hull. If need be you can soak the false deck in warm water or warm water with ammonia in order to get the rough curvature that you need. Remember when soaking wood, you should only use warm water and leave the piece in the water for no more than 15 minutes. This way the cells of the wood will be pliable but not broken down.

Once you are happy with the camber of the false deck, make sure that it fits snuggly up to the false keel adjacent to the sternpost or rudder post. Using wood glue and pins adhere the false deck to the bulkheads. Once the false deck is firmly in place, mark and cut out the openings previously marked for the masts, hatches, gratings and companion ways. It is better to do this after the false deck is in place because of the camber of the deck.

Now you are ready to apply planking to the false deck. The decks were usually light coloured. The width of the plank for our 18th Century model is between 8 inches and 14 inches scaled to on average 5.82mm however not all deck planks on a ship are of equal width so any width between 4.23mm and 7.41mm would be acceptable. The thickness of the planking varied from deck to deck. The lower decks were up to 4″ thick (2.12mm) and the upper decks 3″ thick (1.59mm.) Remember that the length of the board should not exceed 5.5″ (140mm).

The deck strakes (planks) were joggled, especially at the rounded edges close to the bow. The end of the plank equals 1/3 of the plank width and the length of the snipe is equal to not less than twice the width of the plank. As far as plank shift is concerned, there are three, four and for French ship, five, plank shifts. As an example, this means that there would be four planks shifted equally between the first and fifth planks in a four plank shift arrangement. It’s helpful to create a cutting jig to ensure that all of the planks are cut evenly and at the correct length. You can also use this jig for the nail pattern.

On a full size ship a gap of 3/8 ” wide (.2mm scaled) was left between the deck planks both lengthwise and at the butt ends to suit the caulking iron. Decks were nailed down next and then caulked with oakum (a mixture of animal hair, sphagnum moss or hemp and tar) and the seam was paid with pitch. There are a number of ways so simulate the tar lines. Depending on the method you use, tar lines should be applied prior to fastening the deck planks onto the false deck.

o Black thread can be glued between the boards.

o Another method is to darken the edges with a marking pen, which you would have to test to be sure the pen does not bleed into the wood and give you a fuzzy line.

o Another method is to use a soft black lead pencil and darken the edges. With the use of a pencil the caulk lines will not be perfectly even and will tend to fade in and out. This does give a realistic appearance.

o By standing the planks on edge and gluing them to a sheet of black paper then cutting them apart will give you a perfectly even caulk seam.

o To produce a subtle appearance simply space the planks ever so slightly apart and allow the glue to ooze up between the planks. You can leave the gap and allow it to fill in with whatever finish (stain, urethane or paint) you intend on using or wipe the seams with a mixture of colored glue, or fill the seams with a graphite paste mixture (used for leak proofing gasket joints). It is a little difficult to maintain an even gap between the planking because as the planks are glued to the hull they require clamping which may cause the planks to shift.

o You can also use black grout as long as your planking material is hardwood.

The nailing or tree nailing pattern depends on the width of the plank The traditional method for adding treenails is to use bamboo strips or hardwood dowels pulled through a draw plate to form the nail. Alternatives would be to use the bristles from paint brushes, whisk brooms, push brooms, wall paper brushes or anything with bristles. Materials composed of copper, brass or silver wire or plastic rods available in many sizes and can be applied by hand or spring loaded nailing tools. Once you form the tree nails, drill holes in the deck planks in the pattern you choose then glue the nails in place. Once complete, give the deck surface a light sanding.

Once you are happy with the deck, it should be sealed either with paint, stain or urethane. If you use urethane, remember to dilute the first two coats by 30% with a thinner (70/30 mix) and apply the third coat full strength.

Home Interior Party

Interested in hostessing a home interior party or checking into a business opportunity as a sales consultant for a home interior or home décor company? Here’s what you need to know. There are many different direct sales companies that offer home décor products.

Home Interiors (TM) lists themselves as the largest direct sales companies of home accessory products in the U.S. with over 100,000 decorating consultants.

Products offered by home interior companies may include indoor and outdoor home décor products such as candles, accessories, kitchen and cooking items, candles, silk flowers, photos and paintings, shelves even furniture and bedding.

If you’re interested in hostessing a party, the procedure is pretty simple. You choose the company that has the products you’re most interested in and contact a local consultant. The consultant will provide you with a hostess kit that includes instructions, ideas and checklists for everything you need to do to have a successful party. You kit will also contain brochures or catalogs and information about special hostess gifts or discounts that you receive for holding a party, and additional items you can earn, which are based on the total amount of sales from your party, or the number of your guests who book their own parties, or often, it’s a combination of the two.

Your consultant will also work with you and answer any questions you have and make suggestions so that your party is a success and you get the things you want.

When you get your hostess kit, the first thing you should do is spend some time going through it. Look over the hostess gifts and incentives that are available to you. Set your goals and decide on what you want. Figure out how the amount your total sales will have to be in order to reach that goal. And then create an action plan to achieve it.

The biggest single problem most hostesses run into is not inviting enough guests, or following up with them, once the invitations have been sent.

Don’t let this happen to you. Make your guest list right away, and either give it to your home interior consultant, or get the invitations mailed right away. Invite everyone you know.

If you have a small house or apartment, one of the most successful types of home interior parties is often the “open house.” With this type of party, there is a set start and end time, but your guests have the freedom to come and go as best fits their busy schedules. Because you don’t have a set number of guests in your home all at the same time, space, having enough chairs, even having enough room for the product displays isn’t as critical. In fact, most successful hostesses say they get to enjoy the party more themselves, because their duties are lighter and they can relax more. Another advantage is that you can invite more people who will pop in and out throughout the party, something that you can’t do with most other types.

Other options may be to hold a catalog party (where you pass out catalogs to people who can’t make the party, or instead of holding a home interior party in your home). Catalog parties often work well in offices, teachers’ lounges, at craft fairs or trade shows. If you’re a member of a club or an association, don’t forget to invite the other members or pass out catalogs before your party.

If you’re interested in the business opportunity with a home interior party company, being a hostess and having a party is a great way to check out the company first, before making a commitment. During your party you’ll be able to see the complete product line and the quality of the items offered for sale. You’ll be able to take a look at how the sales consultant behaves, if she knows what she’s doing (which means that she was provided adequate training) and also ask discreet questions about whether or not she enjoys what she does and likes the company. And, if at the end of your party you decide to buy a kit, you may even receive special bonuses or discounts.

Hostessing home interior parties are a great way to make your own home more beautiful, and a sanctuary for your family. Becoming a home interior sales consultant may be the right way for you to start your own business, make more money and still take care of your family.

SDAR is a satellite-based direct-broadcast radio service in which digitally encoded audio entertainment material is broadcast to Earth-based receivers, either directly from an orbiting satellite, or from the satellite to the receiver via a repeater station (This is a special case in which the receiver is in a shielded location). SDARS is a radio communication service through which audio programming is digitally transmitted by one or more space stations directly to fixed, mobile, and/or portable stations, and which may involve complementary repeating terrestrial transmitters, telemetry, tracking and control facilities. Through SDARS compact-disc quality audio is available because of digital transmition is employed.

History of Satellite Radio:

Satellite radio is an idea over a decade long. In 1992, the U.S. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) allocated a spectrum in the “S” band (2.3 GHz) for nationwide broadcasting of satellite-based Digital Audio Radio Service (DARS). Only four companies applied for a license to broadcast over that band. The FCC gave licenses to two of these companies in 1997. CD Radio (now Sirius Satellite Radio) and American Mobile Radio (now XM Satellite Radio) paid more than $80 million each to use space in the S-band for digital satellite transmission. The first satellite based radio launched by XM on Sep 25, 2001, then followed by Sirius on July 1, 2002.

At this time, there are three space-based radio broadcasters:

    Sirius Satellite Radio
    XM Satellite Radio
    WorldSpace Satellite Radio

Importance and significance of Satellite radio:

We all have our favorite radio stations that we preset into our car radios, flipping between them as we drive to and from work, on errands and around town. But when you travel too far away from the source station, the signal breaks up and fades into static. Most radio signals can only travel about 30 or 40 miles from their source. On long trips that find you passing through different cities, you might have to change radio stations every hour or so as the signals fade in and out. Now, imagine a radio station that can broadcast its signal from more than 22,000 miles (35,000 km) away and then come through on your car radio with complete clarity. One could drive nearly hundreds of kilometers without ever having to change the radio station! Not only would you never hear static interfering with your favorite tunes, but also the music would be interrupted by few or no commercials.

Satellite radio companies are comparing the significance of their service to the impact that cable TV had on television 30 years ago. Listeners won’t be able to pick up local stations using satellite radio services, but they will have access to hundreds of stations offering a variety of music genres. Each company has a different plan for its broadcasting system, but the systems do share similarities.

XM Satellite Radio, Sirius Satellite Radio and WorldSpace satellite individually provides digital-audio radio services (SDARS), with commercial-free programming, digital-audio quality, and countrywide coverage. Each company offers nearly 100 channels of digital music and talk radio (many of them commercial-free or with a reduced number of commercials) that can be received from coast to coast with no service interruption. Each offering number of music channels, these services clearly provides programming options not available through traditional radio.

One of the main feature of SDARS is SDARS provides almost Commercial free (or Commercials are restricted) programs. And also it provides news, weather forecasts, and sports apart from entertainment-based programs The primary application for this service is constant coast-to-coast coverage of radio for cars. We have all experienced the problem of trying to listen to radio on a long trip. Both AM and FM stations fade in and out as we drive into and out of their coverage area. Portable full satellite radio service available now a days for the car, home stereo and personal radio environments. Car manufacturers have been installing satellite radio receivers in some models for a few years now, and several models of portable satellite radio receivers are available from a variety of electronics companies.

Signal reception is generally poor as well as variable in the cases of AM or FM. With the SDARS systems, radio coverage throughout the 48 continental states is solid and continuous. Unlike for AM and FM channels SDARS signals are available in a unique format

Subscription based radio service:

Because the technology requires access to a commercial satellite for signal propagation; Satellite Radio services are commercial business entities (not private parties), which offer a package of channels as part of their service –requiring a subscription from end users to access its channels. Satellite Radio Service can be subscribed at a monthly fee of $12.95 U.S. and up which is very much worth full to the service that it gives.

Future of Satellite radio:

SDARS seems to get good market growth because of the following factors. Increasing partnerships of XM and Sirius with Automobile OEM and distribution outlets made the SDARS more popular. Introduction of more convenient hardware smaller and more portable radios for the automobile as well as the home stereo, computer and office and personal environments made possible at the same time.

Home and personal use Industry promotional advertising and awareness campaigns given the SDARS more popular. Sirius and XM now also offer subscribers the option of listening to their programming online. Apart from all of this, price drop of hardware making it more affordable for after market purchase.
